Where do these formulas come from?
From Google's own function reference for Sheets. This tool does not use AI to guess at syntax: it assembles real VLOOKUP, SUMIF, COUNTIF, TEXTJOIN, UNIQUE, IMPORTRANGE, and FILTER formulas from the values you provide, in the order Sheets expects them.
Does this work in Excel too?
Some of it. VLOOKUP, SUMIF, SUMIFS, COUNTIF, and TEXTJOIN work in both. XLOOKUP needs Excel 365. UNIQUE, IMPORTRANGE, and FILTER are Sheets-flavored here (Excel 365 has its own UNIQUE and FILTER, but nothing matches IMPORTRANGE).
Why does my VLOOKUP still return #N/A after I copy the formula?
Usually one of three things: the lookup value has extra spaces, the range does not start with the column you are searching, or the value genuinely is not in the range. Check the first column of your range before anything else.
Does this tool store or see my spreadsheet data?
No. You never paste your actual sheet into this page, only cell references like A2:B100. The formula is built in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
Why does IMPORTRANGE ask me to click Allow access?
Google requires it the first time two spreadsheets get connected, as a one-time permission check. Click Allow access in the source sheet once, and the formula keeps working after that.
What is the real difference between VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP?
XLOOKUP can search in either direction and does not need you to count columns, so it survives someone inserting a column better than VLOOKUP does. VLOOKUP still works in older Excel and Sheets versions where XLOOKUP does not exist.
What if my formula needs more than what is covered here?
